During French school holidays (Winter, Easter, Summer, October, and Christmas) and Japanese holidays (end of March, Golden Week, Summer, and New Year), the French-Japanese International School (EIFJ) offers its renowned Holiday School programmes. These sessions provide children aged 3 to 12 with the opportunity to enjoy their vacations in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating educational environment, ideally located in Tokyo’s Kita-ku. Children are supervised by our certified teachers, French language specialists, ESL-qualified English teachers, Japanese-certified educators, as well as assistants and teachers in training.

For children under the age of 3, please refer to our year-round nursery programme. For middle school students, a dedicated programme is available; please consult the section below for details.

EIFJ Holiday Schools offer an exceptional educational experience grounded in continuity and immersion. A key strength of the programme is that many of our teachers, IB-certified and trained in the French curriculum, continue to work with students during the holidays (subject to availability).

For EIFJ students, this ensures strong continuity in both teaching approaches and relationships, supporting a stable and immersive learning environment. Students from other schools are also warmly welcomed and benefit from this high-quality setting, which supports the consolidation of learning, the maintenance of positive routines, and overall development within a professional and caring framework.

We warmly encourage you to offer your child this enriching and unique experience.

CURRICULUM

EIFJ Holiday Schools offer a rich, well-structured, and stimulating programme designed to combine learning, discovery, and enjoyment in a caring and international environment. Children are welcomed from 8:30, followed at 8:45 by a circle time that fosters a sense of community. The day runs until 17:00, with an extended care option available for students who need to stay later.

Developed in advance by our teachers and supervised by the Pedagogical Leadership Team, the program is built around engaging weekly themes. It covers core academic areas (literacy, mathematics, science, and languages) while integrating an inquiry-based approach that fosters curiosity, creativity, and student autonomy.

Each day, students take part in a wide variety of dynamic activities within their immersion class. Families may choose a different target language each day or a continuous immersion throughout the entire program. English and French are offered daily, while Japanese is offered two days per week. These sessions are complemented by cross-class group activities, discovery workshops, artistic projects, educational games, and sports and creative activities (music, dance, etc.).

From Summer 2026, two daily French as a Foreign Language (FLE) sessions will be integrated into the Holiday Schools, led by qualified or trainee teachers. These sessions, adapted to students’ age and level, aim to develop listening and speaking skills in a fun and immersive environment, while gradually introducing reading and writing. Through a variety of activities (games, songs, role-play, creative projects), students expand their vocabulary, build confidence, and discover French-speaking cultures, in connection with the weekly themes.

The Holiday Schools also provide a valuable opportunity to develop essential skills such as self-confidence, cooperation, communication, and initiative. They offer an ideal setting for making new friends and opening up to different cultures, in a diverse and international environment.

Each week includes outdoor activities (parks, seasonal activities) as well as one educational field trip using the school bus (museum, aquarium, zoo, etc.), allowing students to engage in meaningful, real-world experiences. Cultural and festive moments are also integrated throughout the program in line with the annual calendar.

Each student is required to bring a clear folder (or binder/portfolio) to collect their work and creations, which will be sent home at the end of their participation.

Families are regularly informed through the Seesaw application, with the sharing of photos, activities, and key moments from each day.

EIFJ Holiday Schools are much more than a holiday program: they are true educational experiences where each child learns, grows, and thrives in a structured, safe, and inspiring environment.
