The Parents' Association
The Association of Parents of l'EIFJ Tokyo (PA-EIFJ) is an Association Loi 1901 (status officially recognized by the French authorities) attached to the FAPEE, the Federation of Students' Parents in French Schools Abroad (www.fapee.com). EIFJ salutes the work of its President, Hugo Catherine, and his team, thanks to whom the voice of parents counts and must count in the French International Schools' network.
The association's aim is to promote cultural and linguistic cooperation between France, Japan and other countries by offering French, Japanese, binational and third-nationality children living in Japan the opportunity to attend official French schools, thus promoting the learning of French and knowledge of French culture. It plays an active role in school life, organizing elections for its representatives, events and community volunteering, supporting families as they settle in and live in Japan, and carrying out cultural, educational, sporting and professional projects. All parents of students enrolled at EIFJ Tokyo are automatically members of the association.
The Association is consulted on the administration of EIFJ, integrating all its deliberative and consultative bodies via the parent representatives elected to the School Council. It can check how the human, financial and material resources needed to manage EIFJ are mobilized, including equipment, teaching and learning resources. It can also verify applications for accreditation and renewal, and is involved in relations between EIFJ and the French Embassy. It also maintains strong relations with other associations in the French and binational community in Japan, notably the parents' associations of other French, Japanese and international schools in Japan.
Considering EIFJ to be highly complementary to the French schools of Tokyo and Kyoto, the PA is committed to preserving the distinctions that justified its founding and its sustained development since 2019: bilingualism, small headcount, and family friendliness of the school, controlled tuition fees, governance, accessibility of its team, existence of an international French nursery, importance given to performances and sporting events, Japanese supervision and Japanese scholarships, year-round opening, etc.
The Association is also committed to helping EIFJ administration meet the necessary conditions and criteria for accreditation, so that the school can be approved by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) in particular. The Association is counting very much on EIFJ's accreditation by the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research, and its public operator, the AEFE, in particular to further institutionalize EIFJ as a complementary school to the existing offer in Tokyo, offer well-being to students, and to better ensure EIFJ's compliance with pedagogical and safety criteria. The PA also takes care to protect EIFJ's image and to ensure that the reputation of the school and any entity attached to it is not tarnished by any negative or misleading actions from any natural or legal person.
The PA may undertake the sale, on a regular or occasional basis, of any products or services falling within the scope of its object, or likely to contribute to its realization, the organization of various events and demonstrations, and, where appropriate, the establishment of newsletters, briefs, publications, debates, courses and conferences. The PA may take any legal or extrajudicial action necessary to achieve its object and protect its image and objectives.

A word from the President of the Parents' Association
Dear families from Tokyo and beyond,
As President of the EIFJ Parents' Association, it is a great honor to address these few words to you. Indeed, it is thanks to you, dear parents, that we will have the joy of celebrating EIFJ's 5th anniversary this year. Strengthened by your support and trust, and with the support of the Japanese authorities, our school has never ceased to develop and expand its range of programs and capacity to meet the increasingly varied needs of families wishing to educate their children in an international, French-speaking environment here in Tokyo.
On this occasion, let's take a look back at how far EIFJ has come since its inception. From its beginnings in 2019 (nursery and kindergarten) to its current configuration (two campuses providing schooling from nursery through to middle school), we've enjoyed essential moments! Opening during Covid, enabling parents to continue working, recognition by the Japanese authorities allowing scholarships to be awarded to kindergarten children, launch of the Japanese-French and English programs, candidacy for the International Baccalaureate*, recruitment of a Head of School, offering about thirty extracurricular activities, service agreement with the AEFE, and much more!
This path has not been without its challenges, as creating an educational model that is less costly for families and more comfortable for teachers, thanks to a more satisfactory ratio in each class, requires enormous effort, with the ultimate goal of recognition by the French authorities through the accreditation we have been hoping for from the inception of the school.
Together, let us imagine a promising educational future for our children in Tokyo, rich in the diversity of its pedagogical models, and in which EIFJ will be one of the key players. But above all, let's celebrate and remember this special anniversary! We look forward to seeing many of you at the events proposed by our teams. Accompanied by the members of our association and its entire team, it will be a great pleasure for me to meet you and, for those who don't yet know us, to introduce you to our beautiful school and show you just how much "EIFJ experience" deserves to be seen for real.

Toussaint Holiday School at EIFJ Tokyo, it’s from 24 October to 4 November! Like every year, the French, French-Japanese and the international community will gather for the Halloween Parade and Party on Monday, October 31, 2021 starting at 3:00 pm! Come dressed in your best costumes, and let's parade through the Shimofuri shopping street in Komagome, where shopkeepers will distribute treats to your children!
