The employment contracts offered by EIFJ Tokyo respect Japanese law and are all submitted to the supervisors of the school, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Kita-ku Municipality.
Part-time contracts cover from a few hours to 29.5 hours of weekly work.
From 30 hours of weekly work, the employer in Japan has the obligation to offer a full-time contract (up to 40 hours per week), with Japanese pension system. This type of contract is also offered under certain conditions by EIFJ Tokyo.
Income tax is calculated based the salary, please refer to
this table. As an example, a monthly salary of 300,000 yen induces an income tax of 3,000 to 8,000 yen depending on the family situation, that is to say an average tax rate of 2% the first year.
All EIFJ Tokyo staff members' children can study at EIFJ free of charge, annual tuition fees being offered.
Welcome to students and Working Holiday Visa holders! We recommend that applicants reside near both campuses to facilitate your recruitment due to the high cost of transportation in Tokyo and the convenience of residing near your work place. Some share-houses are available around Akabane, Motohasunuma, Jujo and other train stations.

The International French-Japanese School of Tokyo is looking for additional teachers in preschool-kindergarten (3 to 6 year olds), elementary (6 to 11 year olds), middle school (from 11 year olds), and nursery (1 to 3 year olds),
THE SCHOOL
The International French-Japanese School of Tokyo, a two-campus school with 250 places for students from nursery to junior high school, is looking for additional school teachers for the 2024 & 2025 school year. Team of 44 people: teachers, education professionals, assistants and extracurricular activity leaders. AEFE and IB accreditations' goals. Positions offered are based on Japanese law. Visa sponsorship is possible. 29,5h hours per week contract (24 hours teaching, 5,5 hours of statutory service obligations), Monday to Friday), or full-time 35 to 40 hours/week with pension and health insurance.

SKILLS REQUIRED
Homeroom teaching experience in preschool-kindergarten and/or elementary school / middle school; knowledge of the French education system (training available), of the International Baccalaureate framework (IB certification a plus). Ability to work in a bilingual or trilingual school environment. Ability to differentiate teaching to a various public. Knowledge of French (or French/English for Japanese applicants) is not required but is a plus.
HUMAN QUALITIES REQUIRED
Organizational and interpersonal skills; adaptability and benevolence; flexibility and ability to work as part of a team; ability to listen and teach; open-mindedness; ability to work collaboratively. The school team is made up of one-third French, one-third Japanese and one-third English speakers.
MISSION
The teacher may take charge of a preschool-kindergarten and/or elementary / middle school class, alternating with a French or Japanese or English teacher, for a total of 24 hours of teaching per week, and carry out statutory service obligations and other missions. Preparation of lessons, implementation of projects, etc., in compliance with current French curriculum in an IB framework.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

- Science Lab: recruitment of leaders in charge of extracurricular activities and homework assistance in mathematics, physics, chemistry, life sciences, astronomy etc.; laboratory management, organization of scientific experiments in the school and extracurricular programs.

SCHOOL BUS
- School bus attendants : attendants can use the co-working space and the assistants' room during the day if needed (free internet access, equipped kitchen etc.). The working times allow them to go to their school if they study or their possible other work in between morning & evening bus services.

INTERNSHIPS
- Since 2019, EIFJ has been offering interns the opportunity to observe classes and a school in operation, and to be trained, supervised by experienced teachers and by the management. The high demand for agreements from schools and companies every year confirms the quality of our support. A Japanese contract can also be signed between the school and the intern, and the existence of the internship, which is legal in Japan, is reported to the Japanese supervisory authorities.
- EIFJ also offers internships to students of English, communication, human resources, marketing, IT, foreign languages, history, etc.
- Schedules and assignments are clearly stipulated in the agreements, and any changes are subject to agreement between the intern and the school. Unfortunately, EIFJ is not currently in a position to compensate its interns, but successful internships may lead to future recruitment, creating a pool for the future.
- Possible internship periods are two to three months (September to December, January to June, June to August), or 3 to 6 months.
