Saxophone

Good morning!

My name is Rinako KOIDE.

I am delighted to be a saxophone teacher in EIFJ Music School. I studied classical saxophone in Japan and then in France. I returned to Japan in 2021, and now I want to share my passion for saxophone and music with children.

The saxophone is a very beautiful instrument with a lot of possibilities that goes well with many styles of music (classical, pop, jazz etc.). You can start playing the saxophone from 8 years old. Depending on the age, there are different types of saxophone:

- for children aged 8 to 9 years old: the curved soprano saxophone

- from 10 years old: the alto saxophone

- If your 5 years old child wants to play the saxophone: there is the Jsax! It's like a saxophone, smaller and lighter.

I hope a lot of students will be interested in playing the saxophone. I can't wait to teach you!

Born in Tokyo, Rinako started living in France after graduating from Shobi University., studying the saxophone for 5 years with Jérôme Laran at the Conservatory of Aulnay-sous-Bois, and at the Conservatory in Paris. At the conservatory, Rinako was amazed that many children study the saxophone. In Japan, one usually starts the saxophone from the age of 12 in the college harmony orchestras, there aren't many teachers to teach in college, and therefore students often have to learn on their own, whereas in France, one starts the conservatory from the age of 8 and with a teacher. Rinako is passionate in teaching to children and adults, bringing French musical education of the saxophone to Japan.

Early Childhood Music Class for Families in English

Do you think your child is musical? Yes! We believe all children are musical and they can learn to sing in tune and keep rhythm in an appropriate musical environment and with the support from the loving family. In our 45-minutes class, grown-ups, children and teachers gather on the floor in circle and sing, get up and dance and play instruments. Grown-ups (parents/grandparents/nannies) follows the teacher's lead. Children learn in their own style; by observing the others and participating when they are ready and willing with the family they love! With the experience at the classroom and the materials such as songbooks and online resources, the grown-ups will be able to continue the music-making fun at home, in a car, at the park etc until next class and support children's musical development beyond class.

Our principle objectives are to:

  • Help little ones to achieve basic music competence (meaning to sing in tune, keep accurate rhythm) so that they can actively participate in music as an adult, if they wish.
  • Bond with children through music
  • Have fun making music together!

Classes are taught in English (and Japanese, if there is any demand). Children learns English songs as they listen and sing songs in a natural way and more importantly in a fun way!

A certified teacher who have teaching experience in France will teach classes. Having lived in Europe and raising bilingual children, she is passionate about early childhood language education and of course sharing the fun of family music! She is thrilled to join EIFJ and bring music and joy to families in Tokyo.
